SONG LYRICS NARRATIVE

I Live In A World Where People Never Take You For Who You Are . It's Like You'll Never Know Who's Real Or Not Because People Never Just Be There Self . I Do Have To Admit I Was That Kind Of Person When I Was Ignorant And Didn't Know No Better . Then The Older I Got I Just Got sick Of Having To Change Myself , It Would Be Some Mornings I wake Up And Say "I'm Gonna Stay In Bed " Cause I Don't Wanna Be Anyone Else Today I Just Wanna Be Vanderlyn . It Wasn't Till Mid 6th Grade I Start Being Vanderlyn . We Were All Going To The Movies All I Was Thinking Is " I Won't Be Much Fun Tonight " But That Was Around The Same Time I Met My Best Friends They We're Really Their For Me . "As I am Is How They Took Me " It Was Really A Relief They " Never Try To Push Or Make Me Different ". Still Today I Love Them Both There Always Their for Me " When I talk They Listen " Which Really Means A lot To Me . I Know This Sounds Like A Fairy Tale But It's Truly Not " You Don't Know A Lot Of Things" , People Judge From The Outside And Try To Do And Say Anything They Can To Break Us Apart Sometimes They Almost Achieve It "But I Know What I Got, It's Not So Perfect Everyday". We Have Our Ups And Downs As Best Friends Our Argument But It Don't Take That Much To Do To Much Kissing Each Other "Cuz' It All Falls Into Place " , Like It Suppose To . At The End Of The Day I Can Honestly Say " I Know I've Found The Missing Pieces " It Was Them . All I Need Was Some True Friends To Except Me " As I Am ".

WOMAN BY : Nikki Giovanni

She Wanted To Be A Blade
Of Grass Amid The Fields
But He Wouldn't Agree
To Be The Dandelion

She Turned Herself into A Bulb
She Wanted To Be A Robin Singing But He Would't Let Her Grow
Through The Leaves
But He Refused To Be
Her Tree

She Spun Herself Into A Web She Decided It Was All
And Looking For A Place To Rest Right
Turned To Him
But He Stood Straight
Declining To Be
Her Corner

She Tried To Be A Book
But He Wouldn't Read

She Turned Herself Into A Bulb
But He Would't Let Her Grow

She Decided To Become
A Woman
And Though He Still Refused
To Be A Man
She Decided It Was All
Right

Response :

I Felt This Poem Was Really Good . When I Read The Poem I Though The Women Who Wrote The Poem Had Low Self- A-Steem At The Time The Poem Was Written . The Poem Just Shows And Tell All That a Woman Will Do . The Woman Isn't Asking For A Million Bucks Or Material Things She Just Clearly Wanted The Mans To Give Her Attention . Woman Will Change Their Selves To Fit The Mans Wishes But Still It's Never Good Enough. So At The End Of The Day The Woman Just Be Herself And Realize She Doesn't Need The Man. It Was A Relief That At The End Of The Poem She Stop Changing Herself To Please Someone Else . Instead She Stop Changing Herself To Be Happy Within .

EXPOSITORY ESSAY

There Has Been So Many Devasting Stories In The Past Year Due To Natural Diasters . On January 12 , 2010 A Devasting Earthquake Hit The Haitian Nation . Millions Were Left Homeless , Foodless , Clothe less , But Most Of All Family Less . Many Estimates Indicated Anywhere Between 100,00 And 500,000 People May Have Died Due To The Earthquake . The Exact Number Has Not Yet Been Documented .
Many Different States And Organizations Ran To The Rescue To Help Out Haiti . Medical Assistance Being Provided From More Than 400 Cubans . China Sent Rescue Teams To assist In Finding People Who Were(are) Trapped Under Homes And Homes . Many Other States And Nongovernmental Organizations also Provided Help To The Haitian People.
The Media Report Indicated Haiti As A "Failed State" With Weak Institutions. During The Period Of Slavery Out Of All THe French Colonies Haiti Was The Most Prosperous. The Production Of Sugar , Coffee , And Other Algriculutre Products Brought Tremendous Profits To The Colonial landowners . For Three Years French Colonist Competed For Domiance Over Haiti
When You Turn On The Television Or Even The Radio All You Hear IS How The U.S. In Helping Haiti People . BArack Obama Promised $100 Million Dollars In Aid To The Haitian People. "$100 Million Dollars Is Less Than What The U.S. Spends In Five HOurs On The Wars". The $100 Million Dollars Really Isn't anything Compared To What The U.S. And France Stole From The Haitiann Nation Over Centuries .
The U.S. Imposed 60 Years Of Blockade On Haiti Which Improvished Them . After France Demanded Haiti Pay $21 Billion For The Value Of Enslaved Africans , Haiti Was FORCED To Pay Intrest On The Debt For More Than 100 Years . Billions Of Dollars In Debt Haiti Was Forced To Accept The IMF ( Interntional Monetary Fund) Which Promised "Debt Forgiveness". The IMF Arrangement Didn't Help Haiti Instead , "Destroyed Haiti's Agriculture , Backrupted It's Cash Crops Of Rice And Sugar". Haiti's Debt To Inter-American Development Was Not Forgiven.
In Conclusion I Believe The U.S. Should Be Doing What Their Doing Plus More. It's A Shame The United States Can't Just Help Because They Wanted To OR Even Just For Common Curdisity, Rather Than Help With Strings Attached. On January 14 , 2010 The Sames Day The President Promised $100 Million Loan To Its Current Program In Haiti Which Sadly Jut Put Them In More Debt .
"It Is Important To Remeber That When Ever U.S. Imperialism Gives With One Hand , It Takes Away With The Other ". Says Azikiwe , Abayomi

VOCABULARY NARRATIVE

Pain Is such a short word but means so much. Pain is this unpleasant sensation varying in severity , sometimes it's a physical thing and sometimes it's a deep personal emotion within a person. Pain is sometimes the littlest things such as a punch in the stomach , a paper cut or even something like a cat scratching you on your arm. Then there's the heavy pain that a bandage or a piece of chocolate candy can't fix the pain that cause people to go into deep depression , a suicidal mood , a demonic mind frame where people feel better by scaring and cutting up the body God made in his own magnifance image its a shame shame shame people get tooken over by pain . Pain is a demonic spirit of loneliness pain comes as a thief it comes to kill still and destroy a humans being . Then there's that pain of a good spiritual pain the pain a saint endure at night and joy cometh in the morning for them the pain they endure see it's only temporary its not here to stay but not only do they rejoice because of the pain, they have a promise to see their savior Jesus Christ face to face one day and oh what a day it will be when they wake in his lightness. All pain isnt bad pain some is good it's all about what you make of pain. will you let it rule over you or will you rule over the pain .

VIOLENCE ESSAY

when someone says the word violence so many different lights turn on in my head , there's so many different ways of violence for example : domestic violence , physical and mental abuse , fighting , murder , robbery and even riots . Living in Los Angeles ,CA or should i say inner-city my whole life it's really impossible to say I've never seen or experienced violence. There's so many thoughts that i can talk about on violence but the most clear is when i was in middle school , I attended middle school on the west side of Los Angeles.I was only in the seventh grade my second year in middle school , so one day i believe it was Cinco De Mayo a big fight took off I'm not sure weather it was Hispanic against black or just a bunch of students fighting. Boy was i shocked at how they were acting it was really crazy all i saw was a bunch of students beating each other up and even jumping people .

It all started at nutrition , of course the staff broke it up , but later came lunch so the " riot" didn't end there the student s started at lunch but this time the staff couldn't stop it endless they wanted to get beat up so it kept going until LAPD arrived. LAPD couldn't even stop the fighting they only could com it down by spraying pepper spray on several students , they sprayed them so bad it was dripping from their faces .Of course there we're some students with enough common sense to be at a distance far enough to see and at the same time not get harmed , and that included me , I also had enough common sense not to go tell cause then that would put me in jeopardy.

So it didn't end there students start to scram to their class i also went to class and because my class was outside in a bungalow and not in the building i could still see what was going on outside the classroom .The fighting got so out of hand the helicopter came , all four corners of the school were blocked the news came and of course we were on lock down at that point then they finally caught the leaders of the whole thing and put it to an end. It was ridiculous how much they had to stop the fighting ; I consider that a mixture of violence.

Now that I've stated the violence I've seen now its time to mention the violence I've experienced personally . In some cases mostly all robbery is considered violence it's also a pretty scary experience . It all happened during summer right after summer school was over , just like any other teen I was doing something i wasn't supposed to be doing . I was on punishment so after summer school i supposed to head home but since i wanted to be hard headed i carried on with plans of my own . A friend and i went to meet my cousin , then we all got on the bus then got off went to catch another bus going a different way everything was fine for a minute when we got off the bus .

While waiting for the other bus some grown looking men came trying to talk to me , my cousin and friend and since i have a bad habit of being sarcastic , they we're talking to my friend but she said something regrading me so i said I'm only twelve which i guess made them upset . The two men said it was all good have a good day but before they could even finish one came and and snatched my phone right out of my hand and took off running with his friend . It was a brand new phone a Tony Hawk LX I had it for probably only a month , so i did learn valuable lesson ; Listen to your parent cause if i was listening to my mom i would still have a phone today , and also keep your valuables out of public eye . In conclusion the violence I've experienced and seen led me to believe sometimes violence is to teach you a lesson and show you how not to act as a person .
